Possible Causes
Misaligned magnetic door switch, Failed reed switch on control board, Weak or displaced door magnet, Broken door switch wiring
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before accessing the control panel or door wiring.
- Check door closure: Ensure the door is fully closing and not hitting shelves or bottles. Adjust shelf positions if necessary.
- Inspect gasket and hinges: Make sure the door is level and not sagging. Tighten hinge screws and adjust if the door is misaligned.
- Locate door switch: Many Wine Enthusiast models use a magnetic reed switch hidden in the cabinet frame and a magnet in the door. Use a small magnet to pass over the frame area where the switch is located; if the alarm stops, the door magnet may be weak or misaligned.
- Adjust or replace magnet: If the door magnet has shifted, reposition it or replace with a compatible magnet strip. Ensure it lines up with the reed switch area.
- Replace reed switch: If the switch does not respond to a test magnet, the reed switch or its wiring is likely faulty. Replace the door switch assembly or the small PCB containing the reed switch.
After repair, confirm that the door-ajar alarm only sounds when the door is actually open.
