Possible Causes
Failed compressor start relay or overload, Faulty main control board not sending power to compressor, Open thermal fuse in compressor circuit, Defective compressor windings
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before accessing the compressor area. High voltage is present when energized.
- Listen for activity: Plug in the unit and listen for any humming or clicking from the compressor area. Then unplug before working.
- Access compressor terminals: Remove the rear panel and the plastic cover on the compressor side to expose the start relay and overload protector.
- Inspect and test relay: Remove the start relay and shake it gently; if it rattles, it is often failed. Test continuity with a multimeter; replace if open or burned.
- Check overload protector: Test the overload for continuity. Replace if open.
- Measure compressor windings: With all power disconnected and components removed, test resistance between compressor terminals (C-R, C-S, R-S). Infinite resistance or direct short to ground indicates a bad compressor.
- Replace failed parts: Install a new Wine Enthusiast-compatible start relay/overload kit if needed. If the compressor itself is faulty, the entire sealed system must be serviced by a professional.
If the compressor and start components test good but never receive power, the main control board is likely defective.
