Possible Causes
Shorted compressor windings, Shorted power cord, Water intrusion into electrical components, Shorted fan motor or Peltier module
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: This is a serious electrical issue. Unplug the unit immediately and do not reset the breaker repeatedly.
- Inspect power cord: Check for cuts, crushed sections, or burn marks. Replace the cord if damaged.
- Check for moisture: Look for signs of water around the rear panel, control board, and compressor area. Allow the unit to dry completely if moisture is present and identify the source of the leak.
- Isolate components (advanced): With the unit unplugged, disconnect non-essential loads (fans, Peltier module) from the control board. Plug in briefly to see if the breaker still trips. This can help identify the shorted component.
- Test compressor: Use a multimeter to check resistance between compressor terminals and from each terminal to ground. Any continuity to ground indicates a shorted compressor.
Because of shock and fire risk, if you are not experienced with electrical diagnostics, have a qualified appliance technician inspect and repair the unit.
