Possible Causes
Defective magnetic reed door switch, Misaligned door magnet, Broken door switch wiring, Faulty input circuit on control PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the wine cooler before working around the door frame or control panel.
Steps:
- Identify door sensor type: Many Zanussi wine coolers use a magnetic reed switch in the cabinet frame and a magnet in the door. Others use a mechanical plunger switch.
- Check magnet alignment: Inspect the door edge for the magnet and ensure it lines up with the sensor location in the frame. Adjust door hinges if the door has dropped.
- Test reed switch: Remove the inner trim near the sensor and locate the switch. With a multimeter on continuity, place the magnet near the switch; the circuit should open/close as the magnet moves away/closer.
- Inspect wiring: Follow the switch wires back to the control board. Look for breaks or loose connectors.
- Replace faulty switch or magnet: Install a Zanussi-compatible door switch or magnet if defective. Ensure it is firmly seated and protected from moisture.
- Reset alarm: Restore power and close the door. The alarm and E11 should clear after a short delay.
Note: If the switch tests good but the control still reports the door as open, the PCB input circuit may be faulty and require board replacement.
