Possible Causes

Open or shorted ambient NTC sensor, Sensor harness damaged near front control panel, Loose connector on display PCB, Faulty display PCB sensor circuit

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Disconnect mains power before accessing the control panel or display area.

Steps:

  • Locate ambient sensor: On many Zanussi wine coolers, the ambient sensor is near the front grille, behind the kick plate, or integrated near the control panel to measure room temperature.
  • Remove trim: Carefully remove the kick plate or front trim panel. On some models, you may need to remove the inner door trim to access a sensor near the top control.
  • Inspect sensor and wiring: Look for a small probe or plastic capsule with two wires. Check for damage, kinks, or signs of overheating. Ensure connectors are fully seated on the display or main PCB.
  • Test resistance: With a multimeter, measure the sensor resistance at room temperature. Compare to typical NTC values (5–20 kΩ). Replace if open, shorted, or far out of range.
  • Replace sensor: Install a Zanussi-compatible ambient NTC sensor. Route wiring away from hot components (compressor, condenser) and secure with clips or ties.
  • Check display PCB: If a known-good sensor still triggers E3, inspect the display PCB for burnt components or corrosion. Replacement of the display PCB is usually required if damaged.

When to seek help: If you are not comfortable removing the control panel or working near live-voltage components, contact a qualified appliance technician.
