Possible Causes

Failed evaporator fan motor, Ice obstruction around fan blades, Loose or damaged fan wiring, Faulty fan driver circuit on main PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Disconnect the appliance from mains before accessing internal fans. Fan blades can be sharp.

Steps:

  • Access the fan: Remove shelves and the internal rear panel to expose the evaporator and fan assembly.
  • Check for ice or obstruction: Look for ice buildup or foreign objects blocking the fan. Carefully remove ice with warm air (hair dryer on low, at a distance) and never use sharp tools.
  • Spin the fan by hand: The fan should rotate freely. If it is stiff or seized, the motor is likely faulty.
  • Inspect wiring: Check the fan harness for damage and ensure the connector is firmly attached to the fan and main PCB.
  • Test fan voltage: With the unit powered (only if you are competent and using proper precautions), measure DC voltage at the fan connector when the compressor is running. No voltage may indicate a PCB fault.
  • Replace fan motor: If the motor is seized or noisy, replace it with a Zanussi-compatible evaporator fan motor. Transfer any mounting brackets or grommets from the old motor.
  • Reassemble and test: Refit the rear panel, restore power, and confirm that the fan runs quietly and E6 clears.

Note: If the fan tests good but does not receive power, the main control board may require replacement by a technician.
