Possible Causes
Blocked condensate drain hole, Disconnected drain tube at rear, Cracked drain tray above compressor, Excessive condensation from door gasket leak
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before removing internal panels or working near the compressor. Mop up any standing water to prevent slipping.
Steps:
- Locate drain hole: Inside the cabinet, look at the rear wall near the bottom for a small drain hole where defrost water exits.
- Clear blockage: Use a soft pipe cleaner or a small plastic rod to gently clear any debris or mold from the drain hole. Do not use metal objects that can damage the liner.
- Flush with warm water: Using a turkey baster or syringe, flush a small amount of warm water through the drain to ensure it flows freely to the rear tray.
- Check rear drain tube and tray: Remove the rear panel and inspect the drain tube connection to the tray above the compressor. Reattach any loose tube and ensure the tray is not cracked.
- Inspect door gasket: A poor seal can cause excess condensation. Replace the gasket if it is damaged or not sealing properly.
Note: Persistent leaks after clearing the drain may indicate a cracked liner or tray, which can be difficult to repair and may require professional assessment.
