Indoor unit emits a musty or moldy odor when starting

Safety first: Turn off power before cleaning. Use appropriate protective gear if you are sensitive to mold.

• Clean filters: Wash filters thoroughly and allow them to dry in the sun if possible.
• Dry the coil: After cooling operation, run the unit in Fan Only mode for 30–60 minutes to dry the coil and reduce moisture.
• Use coil cleaner: Apply a non-rinse foaming coil cleaner designed for mini-split indoor units according to the product instructions.
• Clean drain pan: If accessible, wipe the drain pan with a mild disinfectant solution to remove slime and mold.
• Persistent odor: If smell persists, a professional deep cleaning of the indoor unit (including blower and coil) is recommended.
