Insufficient Cooling Capacity / Performance Degradation
Indoor unit runs but does not cool effectively; air is only slightly cool or room never reaches set temperature

Possible Causes
Dirty indoor air filter, Dirty indoor or outdoor coil, Low refrigerant charge due to small leak, Undersized unit for room load
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power before cleaning coils or filters. Do not attempt to handle refrigerant yourself.
- Clean filters: Remove and wash indoor filters with mild soap and water. Dry completely before reinstalling.
- Clean coils: Gently vacuum or brush the indoor coil fins. Clean the outdoor coil with low-pressure water from inside out.
- Check room conditions: Close windows and doors, and reduce heat sources (sunlight, ovens, many occupants) where possible.
- Verify mode and setpoint: Ensure the unit is in Cool mode with a set temperature at least 3–5°C below room temperature and fan on appropriate speed.
- Call a technician if still weak: If performance remains poor after cleaning and correct settings, a technician should check refrigerant charge, system pressures, and confirm the unit is correctly sized for the space.
