Possible Causes
Dead remote batteries, Faulty remote control, Blocked IR receiver window, Failed IR receiver board on indoor unit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: No high-voltage work is required for basic checks, but turn off power before removing the front panel.
- Replace batteries: Install fresh, correctly oriented batteries in the remote.
- Check remote output: Point the remote at a smartphone camera and press a button; you should see the IR LED flash on the screen. If not, the remote may be faulty.
- Clear line of sight: Ensure there are no objects blocking the path between the remote and the indoor unit's receiver.
- Clean receiver window: Wipe the IR receiver area on the indoor unit with a soft cloth.
- Receiver board: If the remote is working but the unit does not respond, the IR receiver board may be defective and should be replaced.
