Possible Causes
Clogged condensate drain line, Blocked or misaligned drain pan, Improper unit leveling, Algae or slime buildup in drain
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker before working near the indoor unit. Water and electricity are a dangerous combination.
- Check filters and airflow: Clean filters to reduce excessive icing that can cause overflow.
- Inspect drain outlet: Locate the drain hose connection at the indoor unit. Ensure the hose is not kinked or elevated above the unit outlet.
- Flush the drain line: From the outdoor end of the drain hose, use a wet/dry vacuum to suck out debris, or gently flush with water if accessible. Do not apply high pressure that could disconnect the hose inside the wall.
- Check unit level: Use a spirit level to ensure the indoor unit is slightly tilted toward the drain side. Adjust mounting if necessary.
- Drain pan cleaning: If accessible, remove the front cover and gently clean the drain pan of slime and dirt using a mild disinfectant.
- Persistent leaks: If leaking continues, a technician may need to access internal drain components or a concealed pump (if fitted).
