Possible Causes

Open or shorted evaporator NTC sensor, Sensor dislodged from evaporator coil, Damaged sensor wiring harness, Faulty indoor PCB sensor input

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Isolate power at the breaker before opening the indoor unit. Use insulated tools and avoid touching live parts.

Diagnostic and fix steps:

  • Open the front cover: Lift the front panel, remove filters, and locate the evaporator coil (aluminum fins). The evaporator sensor is usually clipped to the coil or inserted into a small pocket.
  • Check sensor placement: Ensure the sensor probe is firmly clipped to the coil in the factory position. If it has fallen away, reclip it securely so it senses coil temperature correctly.
  • Inspect wiring: Follow the sensor wires back to the indoor PCB. Look for cuts, pinched sections, or signs of overheating. Repair any damaged insulation and ensure the connector is fully seated.
  • Resistance test: With power off, disconnect the sensor from the PCB and measure resistance. Compare to Gorenje specifications for the model. Replace the evaporator sensor if readings are open, shorted, or far out of range.
  • PCB check: If a known-good sensor still triggers E2, the indoor PCB may be defective. At this point, contact a Gorenje service center or qualified HVAC technician for PCB testing or replacement.
