Possible Causes
Failed outdoor condenser NTC sensor, Corroded or loose sensor connector, Damaged sensor cable due to weather or rodents, Faulty outdoor control PCB sensor circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off the outdoor unit at the main isolator or breaker. Outdoor units contain high voltage and moving fan blades—do not work with power on.
Steps:
- Remove outdoor cover: Unscrew and remove the service panel on the Gorenje outdoor unit to access the control area and wiring.
- Locate the sensor: Find the condenser coil temperature sensor clipped to the outdoor heat exchanger fins or inserted into a small tube on the coil.
- Inspect physically: Check for broken sensor body, cracked insulation, or wires pulled out of the clip. Reattach the sensor firmly to the coil if it has come loose.
- Check connector: Trace the sensor wires to the outdoor PCB. Unplug and replug the connector to ensure good contact. Clean any visible corrosion.
- Measure resistance: With power off, measure sensor resistance and compare to Gorenje specifications. Replace the outdoor coil sensor if readings are abnormal.
- Test operation: Restore power and run the unit. If E3 persists with a new sensor, the outdoor PCB may be faulty and should be evaluated by a professional.
