Possible Causes
Open or shorted communication cable between indoor and outdoor, Reversed polarity on communication terminals, Loose terminal screws at indoor or outdoor block, Faulty indoor or outdoor main PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power to both indoor and outdoor units at the breaker. Communication lines may carry low voltage but are connected to high-voltage equipment.
Steps:
- Check wiring diagram: Refer to the Gorenje wiring label on the indoor unit cover. Confirm that terminals (e.g., 1-2-3 or L-N-S) are wired identically at indoor and outdoor units.
- Tighten terminals: Remove the indoor and outdoor covers over the terminal blocks. Tighten all screws on the communication and power terminals. Loose screws can cause intermittent E6.
- Inspect cable: Follow the interconnecting cable along its route. Look for crushed, cut, or water-damaged sections. Replace the cable if insulation is compromised.
- Polarity check: Ensure that each numbered or labeled terminal on the indoor unit goes to the same terminal on the outdoor unit. Correct any cross-wiring.
- Power cycle: After corrections, turn power back on and wait several minutes for communication to re-establish.
- If E6 persists: One of the PCBs may be defective. A technician can test signal voltages and replace the indoor or outdoor PCB as needed.
