Possible Causes

Stuck or contaminated float switch in drain pan, Blocked condensate drain causing high water level, Disconnected float switch wiring, Faulty float switch sensor

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Turn off power before accessing the drain pan area. Be prepared for water spillage.

Steps:

  • Check for drain blockage: Remove the front panel and filters. Locate the drain pan under the evaporator coil. Inspect the drain outlet and hose for slime, algae, or debris. Clean with warm water and a mild detergent.
  • Float switch inspection: If your Gorenje model has a float switch, it will be mounted in or near the drain pan with two wires. Ensure it moves freely and is not stuck in the high position.
  • Clean the float: Remove the float switch if possible and clean off any sludge or scale. Reinstall securely.
  • Check wiring: Confirm the float switch connector is firmly attached to the indoor PCB and wires are intact.
  • Test: After cleaning and reassembly, restore power and run the unit. If E9 persists, replace the float switch or condensate level sensor.
