Note: On many Gorenje heat pump models, H1 is an informational code indicating defrost mode, not a fault.

Steps:

• Observe duration: Defrost cycles typically last 5–15 minutes. The indoor fan may stop to prevent cold drafts.
• Check outdoor unit: Inspect the outdoor coil for heavy ice buildup. If completely encased in ice, airflow or defrost issues may exist.
• Ensure drainage: Make sure melt water can drain away from the outdoor unit and is not refreezing around the base.
• Clean coil and surroundings: Remove debris and ensure good airflow.
• If H1 is constant: If the unit stays in defrost or frequently cycles, a technician should check defrost sensors and control logic.
