Possible Causes

Dirty or blocked indoor air filter, Evaporator coil heavily clogged with dust, Low refrigerant charge causing coil icing, Faulty indoor evaporator temperature sensor (T1 sensor)

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn OFF the unit and disconnect power before cleaning or opening panels.

  • Step 1 – Clean air filters: Open the front grille of the Royal Clima indoor unit, remove the mesh filters, and wash them with lukewarm water and mild detergent. Let them dry completely before reinstalling.
  • Step 2 – Inspect evaporator coil: With filters removed, look at the aluminum fins of the evaporator. If they are covered with dust, use a soft brush or a vacuum with a brush attachment to gently clean them. Avoid bending fins.
  • Step 3 – Check airflow obstructions: Ensure that furniture, curtains, or covers are not blocking the indoor unit’s air inlet or outlet.
  • Step 4 – Sensor check: Locate the evaporator temperature sensor clipped to the coil. Make sure it is firmly attached and the wire is not damaged. A loose sensor can cause false freeze protection trips.
  • Step 5 – Restart and observe: Restore power, run the unit in COOL mode at 24–26°C and medium fan speed. If E2 reappears and ice forms on the coil, the system may be low on refrigerant or have a sensor fault.

When to call a technician: Persistent E2 after cleaning and sensor repositioning usually indicates low refrigerant or a failed T1 sensor, which requires professional tools and refrigerant handling certification.
