Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the breaker and wait at least 10 minutes before touching the outdoor unit. High voltage remains in capacitors.
- Step 1 – Visual inspection: Remove the outdoor unit cover and inspect the compressor terminals and wiring harness for loose connections or burn marks.
- Step 2 – Check outdoor fan and noises: When you restart the unit, listen: if the fan runs but the compressor does not start and E6 appears, shut the unit down to prevent further damage.
- Step 3 – Do not attempt to bypass protections: Never short safety devices or force the compressor to run; this can cause fire or severe damage.
When to call a technician: E6 almost always requires professional diagnosis with a multimeter and megohmmeter to test compressor windings and the inverter module. Contact an authorized Royal Clima service center.
