Possible Causes

Clogged condensate drain line, Blocked drain pan outlet in indoor unit, Faulty float switch or water level sensor, Improper installation causing poor drainage slope

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn OFF the unit and disconnect power. Be prepared for water spillage when opening the indoor unit.

  • Step 1 – Check drain hose: Locate the condensate drain hose exiting the indoor unit. Ensure it is not kinked, raised above the unit, or blocked at the outlet.
  • Step 2 – Clear drain line: Use a wet/dry vacuum at the end of the drain hose outside to suck out sludge and algae. Alternatively, blow compressed air gently from the indoor side.
  • Step 3 – Clean drain pan: Remove the front cover and filters. Access the drain pan under the evaporator coil and clean out slime, dirt, and mold with a mild disinfectant.
  • Step 4 – Check float switch (if present): Some Royal Clima models have a float switch connected to the indoor PCB. Ensure it moves freely and the wiring is intact.

When to call a technician: If E9 persists and drainage appears normal, the water level sensor or PCB input may be faulty and should be tested by a service technician.
