Possible Causes
Refrigerant leak in evaporator or condenser, Poor factory charge, Damaged flare connections (split units), Faulty pressure sensor (if equipped)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Refrigerant handling requires certified personnel. Do not attempt to open the refrigeration circuit yourself.
- Step 1 – Visual inspection: Look for oily residue on refrigerant lines, around flare nuts, and on the evaporator or condenser coils, which can indicate a leak.
- Step 2 – Check airflow and filters: Ensure filters are clean and airflow is not restricted, as poor airflow can mimic low refrigerant symptoms.
- Step 3 – Reset and test: Power cycle the unit and run in cooling mode. Note if the compressor starts and if the larger refrigerant line becomes cool and sweaty.
- Step 4 – Call a technician: If F0 persists and cooling is weak, a licensed HVAC technician must check system pressures, locate leaks, repair them, and recharge with the correct refrigerant type and weight specified by Sencor.
