Possible Causes
Failed outdoor fan motor, Obstructed fan blades, Loose fan motor connector, Faulty outdoor PCB fan driver
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker. Outdoor units are exposed to weather; ensure footing is stable.
- Step 1 – Inspect fan blades: Remove the outdoor grille and check for debris (leaves, plastic, ice) blocking the fan. Clear any obstructions.
- Step 2 – Check fan rotation: Spin the fan by hand; it should move freely. Stiff movement indicates bearing failure.
- Step 3 – Inspect wiring: Verify the outdoor fan motor connector is secure on the PCB and that wires are not damaged or chewed by rodents.
- Step 4 – Test operation: Restore power and run the unit. If the compressor runs but the fan does not, or starts then stops with F2, the motor is likely faulty.
- Step 5 – Replace outdoor fan motor: Remove the fan blade (note orientation), unbolt the motor, and install a new Sencor outdoor fan motor. Refit the blade and grille.
- Step 6 – PCB diagnosis: If a new motor does not fix F2, the outdoor PCB fan driver may need replacement by a technician.
