Possible Causes

Open or shorted outdoor ambient NTC sensor, Sensor dislodged from mounting point, Damaged sensor wiring, Faulty outdoor PCB sensor circuit

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Isolate power at the breaker before opening the outdoor unit.

  • Step 1 – Locate sensor: In Sencor split systems, the outdoor ambient sensor is usually clipped near the air intake of the outdoor unit, away from the coil.
  • Step 2 – Inspect sensor and wires: Ensure the sensor probe is intact and wires are not cut or weather-damaged.
  • Step 3 – Check connector: Reseat the sensor connector on the outdoor PCB and look for corrosion.
  • Step 4 – Resistance test: With power off, measure sensor resistance and compare to expected NTC values at current outdoor temperature. Replace if open or shorted.
  • Step 5 – Replace sensor: Install a new Sencor outdoor ambient sensor and secure it in the same location.
  • Step 6 – PCB replacement: If F3 persists with a known-good sensor, the outdoor PCB may be defective and should be replaced by a professional.
