Possible Causes

Open or shorted outdoor coil NTC sensor, Sensor not attached to coil, Damaged sensor wiring, Faulty outdoor PCB sensor circuit

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Isolate power at the breaker. Outdoor coils can have sharp fins; wear gloves.

  • Step 1 – Locate sensor: The outdoor coil sensor is usually clipped to the coil tubing or fins in the middle of the outdoor unit.
  • Step 2 – Check mounting: Ensure the sensor is firmly attached to the coil. Reattach with the original clip or aluminum tape if loose.
  • Step 3 – Inspect wiring: Follow the sensor wires to the PCB, checking for damage or UV deterioration. Reseat the connector.
  • Step 4 – Resistance test: With power off, measure sensor resistance and compare to expected NTC values. Replace if defective.
  • Step 5 – Replace sensor: Install a new Sencor outdoor coil sensor and secure it to the coil.
  • Step 6 – PCB replacement: If F5 persists, the outdoor PCB may be faulty and should be replaced by a professional.
