Possible Causes
Overheating fan motor, Failing compressor, Burnt wiring or connector on PCB, Failing run capacitor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Immediately turn off and unplug the unit if you smell burning. Do not continue to operate until inspected.
- Visual inspection: Remove the front and rear covers and inspect wiring, connectors, and the control board for burn marks or melted insulation.
- Check motors: Smell near the fan motors and compressor (without touching terminals). A strong burnt odor near a motor suggests internal failure.
- Inspect capacitor: Look for bulging or leaking capacitors. Replace with the same rating if damaged.
- Repair or replace: Replace any burnt wiring using the same gauge and high-temperature insulation. Replace damaged motors or boards with Soleus Air OEM parts.
- Professional help: If you cannot identify the source, contact a qualified technician. Do not use the unit until the cause is resolved.
