Possible Causes
Faulty indoor fan motor feedback (for DC motors), Defective mode control relay on PCB, Loose fan motor connector
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit. Beware of sharp metal edges and moving fan blades.
- Check fan operation: With the unit assembled, plug in and try FAN-only mode. If the fan does not start or starts then stops with E7, suspect a fan motor or control issue.
- Access fan compartment: Remove the front and/or rear covers to expose the indoor blower motor. On portable Soleus Air units, this is usually behind the front evaporator coil.
- Inspect wiring: Verify that the fan motor connector is fully seated on the main PCB. Look for damaged wires or signs of overheating.
- Spin the fan by hand: With power disconnected, gently spin the blower wheel. It should rotate freely without grinding or binding. If stiff, the motor bearings may be failing.
- Check for obstructions: Remove any debris, plastic, or insulation that may be blocking the blower wheel.
- Replace components as needed: If the motor is seized or noisy, replace the indoor fan motor with a Soleus Air-specified part. If the motor tests good but E7 persists, the main control board may have a failed relay or driver circuit and should be replaced.
