Possible Causes
Failed compressor, Faulty compressor start relay or capacitor, Defective main control board not sending start signal
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit. Compressor circuits carry high current; sealed-system work should be done by a professional.
- Listen for compressor: When switching to COOL, listen for a distinct change in sound (compressor starting). If you only hear the fan, the compressor is not starting.
- Check mode and temperature: Ensure the set temperature is at least 3–5°F below room temperature and the mode is COOL, not FAN or DRY.
- Inspect start components: With covers removed and power disconnected, locate the compressor start relay and capacitor (if used). Look for burnt or melted parts. Replace with Soleus Air-specified components if damaged.
- Control board output: If start components look normal, the main PCB may not be energizing the compressor relay. Board replacement is typically required.
- Professional evaluation: If new start components do not resolve the issue, the compressor itself may be failed and requires a licensed technician to confirm and replace.
