Possible Causes
Loose or damaged NTC sensor harness, Failed NTC temperature sensor, Burned connector on main control board, Pinched or broken wiring in heater cavity
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the air fryer and allow it to cool completely before opening any panels. Do not work inside the unit while it is connected to power.
- Power reset: Unplug the Gourmia air fryer for 5–10 minutes, then plug it back in and try again. Sometimes E1 is a transient sensor error.
- Check for obvious damage: Remove the basket and inspect the interior for melted plastic, burnt spots, or debris around the heating element area that might have damaged the sensor wiring.
- Access the sensor wiring: With the unit unplugged, remove the rear or bottom cover (depending on model) to access the heater cavity. Locate the small probe or bead-type sensor (NTC) attached near the heating element or air channel, usually with two thin wires leading to the control board.
- Inspect connectors: Verify the NTC sensor plug is fully seated on the main control board and that the wires are not cut, pinched, or burned. Reseat the connector firmly.
- Basic resistance check (for advanced DIYers): Using a multimeter set to ohms, measure resistance across the NTC sensor leads. A typical room-temperature reading is in the 50k–200kΩ range (exact value varies by model). An open circuit (OL) or 0Ω indicates a failed sensor or wiring.
- Replace faulty parts: If the sensor is open/shorted or the insulation is damaged, replace the NTC temperature sensor harness. If the connector on the main control board is burned or loose, the control board may also need replacement.
- Reassemble and test: Reinstall covers, plug the unit in, and run a short preheat cycle to confirm the E1 code is cleared.
