Possible Causes

Blocked air vents causing overheating, Failed high-limit thermostat, Shorted NTC temperature sensor, Grease buildup around heating element and sensor

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the Gourmia air fryer and let it cool for at least 30 minutes. Surfaces and internal components can be very hot.

  • Check ventilation: Ensure the air fryer is placed on a hard, flat surface with at least 5 inches (12 cm) of clearance around all sides and the rear exhaust. Remove any objects blocking the rear or side vents.
  • Clean the interior: Remove the basket and crisper tray. Wipe away heavy grease and food debris from the interior walls, heating element area, and around the temperature sensor using a damp cloth and mild detergent. Do not spray cleaner directly into the heater cavity.
  • Inspect the high-limit thermostat: With the unit unplugged and rear/bottom cover removed, locate the small round or disc-shaped thermal cutoff or thermostat mounted near the heater. Check for signs of overheating or discoloration.
  • Manual reset (if equipped): Some Gourmia models use a resettable high-limit thermostat with a small button. If present, press the button gently to reset. If it immediately trips again, there is likely a deeper overheating issue.
  • Replace failed components: If the high-limit thermostat is open (no continuity) at room temperature, replace it. If the NTC sensor is visibly damaged or tests shorted, replace the NTC sensor harness.
  • Reassemble and test: After cleaning and replacing any faulty parts, reassemble the unit and run a short preheat cycle. Monitor for normal airflow and absence of the E2 code.
