Possible Causes
Open heating element coil, Burned spade terminals at heating element, Failed heater relay on main control board, Thermal fuse open in heater circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the air fryer and allow it to cool completely. Internal heater wiring carries mains voltage; proceed only if you are comfortable working with electrical components.
- Visual inspection: Remove the basket and look up toward the heating element. Check for broken or sagging coils, burn marks, or melted insulation.
- Access heater connections: Remove the rear or bottom cover to expose the heating element terminals and wiring. Look for burned or loose spade connectors.
- Tighten or replace connectors: If a connector is loose or oxidized, clean it with electrical contact cleaner and crimp or replace the terminal as needed.
- Check continuity: Using a multimeter, test continuity across the heating element terminals. A reading of several tens of ohms is typical. An open circuit indicates a failed element that must be replaced.
- Check thermal fuse: Many Gourmia air fryers include an inline thermal fuse in the heater circuit. Test it for continuity; if open, replace it with the same temperature and current rating.
- Control board evaluation: If the element and thermal fuse test good but E3 persists and there is no heater voltage during operation, the heater relay or triac on the main control board may have failed. Replacement of the main control board is usually required.
- Reassemble and test: After replacing any faulty parts, reassemble the unit, plug it in, and run a preheat cycle to confirm proper heating and that E3 is cleared.
