Possible Causes
Misaligned basket not engaging switch, Broken door/basket microswitch, Bent switch actuator tab, Loose switch wiring harness
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the air fryer before inspecting the basket switch or internal wiring.
- Check basket seating: Remove the basket and reinsert it firmly until you hear or feel a click. Ensure no food debris is preventing full insertion.
- Inspect latch area: Look at the top front of the basket cavity where the latch engages. Clean away crumbs or grease that may block the actuator.
- Locate the microswitch: With the unit unplugged and outer shell partially removed, find the small microswitch near the basket latch area. It is usually activated by a plastic tab on the basket or drawer.
- Actuator test: Manually press the switch lever. You should hear a distinct click. If it feels mushy or does not click, the switch may be defective.
- Continuity test: Using a multimeter, test the switch for continuity when pressed and released. Replace the switch if it does not change state.
- Adjust actuator: If the basket tab does not fully press the switch, gently bend or adjust the actuator bracket so that the switch is fully engaged when the basket is inserted.
- Secure wiring: Ensure the switch wires are firmly connected to the main control board and not broken.
