Possible Causes
Grease buildup on sensor causing false readings, Poor airflow due to clogged rear filter or vents, Sensor drift or calibration failure, Control board firmware error
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the air fryer and let it cool completely before cleaning or opening the unit.
- Clean sensor area: Remove the basket and visually locate the temperature sensor (small metal probe or covered bead) near the heating element or side wall. Gently clean around it with a soft cloth and mild detergent to remove grease film.
- Clear vents and filters: Inspect the rear exhaust vents and any removable filters. Clean dust and grease with a soft brush and warm soapy water (filters) or a vacuum (vents). Ensure everything is fully dry before reassembly.
- Reset the unit: After cleaning, leave the unit unplugged for 15 minutes, then plug it back in and run a short preheat cycle.
- Sensor replacement: If E9 recurs quickly and the unit seems to overheat or underheat, replace the NTC temperature sensor harness with a compatible Gourmia part.
- Control board replacement: Persistent E9 after sensor replacement may indicate a control board calibration or firmware fault. Replace the main control board.
