How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the air fryer before removing any panels. Allow the unit to cool completely if it was recently used.

Step-by-step checks:

  • Power reset: Unplug the air fryer for 5–10 minutes, then plug it back in and try a simple cook cycle. If E1 returns immediately, continue.
  • Inspect the sensor harness: Remove the basket and look through the bottom of the cooking chamber for a small metal probe or bulb (NTC sensor) near the heating element. From the back or bottom panel (after removing screws), locate the two-wire harness from the sensor to the main control board. Check for loose connectors, broken insulation, or burnt spots. Reseat the connector firmly.
  • Check for obvious damage: If the sensor probe is bent, broken, or heavily coated with grease/carbon, it may be reading incorrectly. Clean gently with a soft cloth and mild degreaser, avoiding harsh scrubbing.
  • Basic continuity check (for experienced DIYers): With the unit unplugged, use a multimeter set to resistance (ohms) across the two sensor leads. A typical NTC sensor should show a finite resistance (often 10k–100kΩ at room temperature). If it reads open (OL) or near 0Ω, the sensor is defective.
  • If wiring and sensor look good: The sensor input circuit on the main control board may be faulty. At this point, replacement of the control board is usually required.

When to stop: If you are not comfortable opening the housing or using a meter, do not proceed beyond visual inspection. Contact a qualified appliance technician or GoWISE USA support.
