Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the air fryer and let it cool for at least 30 minutes before inspection. Do not touch the heating element while hot.
Step-by-step checks:
- Check ventilation: Ensure the air fryer has at least 4 inches (10 cm) of clearance on all sides and is not pushed against a wall or under low cabinets. Blocked vents can cause E2 overheat errors.
- Clean the interior: Remove the basket and pan. Inspect the heating element and upper cavity for heavy grease or food buildup. Clean with a soft brush and a damp cloth with mild detergent. Do not spray cleaner directly onto the element or electronics.
- Inspect the high-limit thermostat: From the back or top panel (depending on model), locate the small round thermal cutoff or thermostat mounted near the heating element. Check for signs of discoloration, cracking, or melted terminals.
- Resettable thermostat: Some GoWISE USA models use a resettable high-limit. Look for a small red or black button on the thermostat. With the unit unplugged and cool, press gently to reset if present.
- Test operation: After cleaning and ensuring proper airflow, plug the unit back in and run at a moderate temperature (e.g., 350°F/180°C) with an empty basket for 5–10 minutes. If E2 reappears quickly, the thermostat or sensor may be defective.
When to stop: If the error persists after cleaning and ensuring ventilation, replacement of the high-limit thermostat or sensor assembly is recommended. If you are not comfortable opening the housing, contact a technician.
