Possible Causes

Gas supply interruption or low pressure, Air in gas line after supply off, Blocked Baxi gas valve inlet filter, Faulty ignition electrode or flame sensor

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: If you smell gas, turn off the gas at the meter, ventilate the area, and call the gas emergency number.

User checks:

  • Check that other gas appliances (hob, fire) are working. If not, contact your gas supplier.
  • Ensure the boiler gas isolation valve is fully open.
  • Press the reset button once and wait for the boiler to attempt ignition.
  • If the boiler has recently been off or the gas meter was changed, it may take a couple of ignition attempts to clear air from the line. Do not reset more than a few times.

If E133 persists and other gas appliances work:

  • A Gas Safe engineer should check the gas valve, burner, ignition electrode, and flame sensor, and verify inlet gas pressure.
