Possible Causes
Leaking pump housing or pump gasket, Corroded primary heat exchanger, Dripping automatic air vent, Leaking safety relief valve or expansion vessel connection
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Isolate electrical power and close the boiler's isolation valves. Water inside the boiler can cause electrical hazards.
- 1. Remove front panel: With power off, remove the Buderus boiler front cover to inspect the internal components.
- 2. Identify source: Use a flashlight to trace water trails upward to the highest wet point. Common sources are the pump, automatic air vent, heat exchanger connections, and safety valve.
- 3. Check system pressure: If the pressure is frequently high (>2.5–3 bar) and water drips from the safety valve discharge, the expansion vessel may be failed or undercharged.
- 4. Tighten or replace fittings: Slightly tighten any weeping compression joints. Replace faulty gaskets or O-rings on pump unions or manifold connections.
- 5. Replace faulty components: A dripping automatic air vent or safety valve should be replaced with the correct Buderus part.
- 6. Heat exchanger leak: If water appears from within the primary heat exchanger body, the exchanger may be cracked and will require replacement by a technician.
