Boiler makes loud banging or knocking noises (kettling) during operation

Safety: Turn off the boiler if noises are severe. Overheating can damage components.

• 1. Check system pressure and bleed: Ensure correct pressure and remove air from radiators and boiler.
• 2. Increase pump speed: If the Buderus pump has adjustable speed, set it to a higher setting to improve flow.
• 3. System cleaning: A technician should perform a chemical flush of the heating system and fit a magnetic filter if sludge is present.
• 4. Descale heat exchanger: On heavily scaled systems, the primary heat exchanger may need to be chemically descaled or replaced.
• 5. Water treatment: After cleaning, add appropriate inhibitor to prevent future scale and corrosion.
