Possible Causes
Leaking Herz plate heat exchanger gasket, corroded primary heat exchanger, dripping automatic air vent, loose union on flow/return connections
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Isolate electrical power and allow the boiler to cool. Close isolation valves if possible. Water near electrical parts is dangerous.
- Identify source: Remove the front cover and use a torch to trace the leak to its highest visible point. Check around the pump, heat exchanger, and all unions.
- Tighten unions: Gently tighten any accessible compression or union fittings on the Herz boiler hydraulic block. Do not overtighten.
- Check air vent: Inspect the automatic air vent for signs of leakage. If the cap is loose, tighten slightly; if the body leaks, plan replacement.
- Replace faulty component: If the leak is from a gasket or heat exchanger, the affected Herz part must be replaced and the system refilled and bled.
