Carpet cleaner runs but there is a strong electrical or burning smell

Safety first: Turn off, unplug immediately, and do not continue to run the machine.

• Inspect cleaner head: Remove base plate and check for jammed brush bar or debris around the belt.
• Check for blockages: Clear any obstructions in the suction path.
• Smell source: If the smell is strongest at the cleaner head, the belt is likely overheating and should be replaced. If strongest at the main body, the motor may be failing.
• Service if motor-related: Do not use the machine until a technician has inspected and, if necessary, replaced the motor.
