Possible Causes
Stretched or worn drive belt, Debris in belt path, Seized brush bar bearings, Misaligned belt pulley
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug immediately if you smell burning. Allow the head to cool before opening.
- Open cleaner head: Remove the head from the machine and take off the base plate to access the brush bar and belt.
- Inspect belt: Check for cracks, glazing, or stretching. If the belt is loose or damaged, it must be replaced.
- Clean belt path: Remove any debris around the belt and pulleys. Ensure the pulleys spin freely.
- Check brush bar bearings: Spin the brush bar by hand. If stiff, replace the brush bar assembly to prevent new belt damage.
- Fit new belt: Install a genuine Dyson belt, routing it exactly as the original. Reassemble and test.
