Possible Causes
Worn motor brushes, Partially seized motor bearings, Blocked motor fan housing, Faulty motor control PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the machine before opening any covers.
- Check for heavy load: Ensure the brush bar and suction path are free of obstructions. A jammed brush bar or blocked nozzle can overload the motor.
- Test without accessories: Remove the wand, hose, and floorhead. Run the machine briefly with just the main body. If it runs normally without shutting off, the fault is likely in the floorhead or hose.
- Inspect brush bar rotation: With the machine off, rotate the brush bar by hand. It should spin freely. If stiff or grinding, the bearings may be seizing and overloading the motor.
- Clean motor air inlets: Check all vents around the motor housing for dust build‑up. Use a soft brush and vacuum to clear them. Do not spray liquids into the vents.
- Advanced checks (technician recommended): If E2 persists, the motor windings, brushes, or control PCB may be drawing excessive current. These require disassembly and electrical testing; contact a Dyson‑approved service centre.
