Machine will not start, power light off, no response from any buttons

Safety first: Unplug the Henry carpet cleaner from the mains before any inspection. Never work on a live appliance.

• Check wall outlet and plug fuse:
  • Test the outlet with another appliance to confirm power is present.
  • Remove the plug fuse (usually 13A in UK) and test/replace with a known good fuse of the same rating.
• Inspect power cord:
  • Look for cuts, kinks, or crushed sections along the Henry mains lead.
  • Gently flex the cord near the plug and where it enters the machine; if power cuts in/out, the cord may be internally broken and should be replaced.
• Check on/off rocker switch:
  • Remove the top cover following the Henry service manual.
  • Verify the spade connectors are firmly attached to the on/off rocker switch.
  • Use a multimeter on continuity mode to test the switch; replace the on/off rocker switch if it does not close when pressed.
• Inspect wiring to control PCB (if fitted):
  • Locate the small control PCB inside the Henry carpet cleaner head.
  • Check for loose or burnt connectors on the PCB input terminals.
  • If there is visible damage or a burnt smell, the control PCB may need replacement.
• Reassemble and test:
  • Ensure all covers are correctly refitted and safety interlocks engaged before plugging back in.
