Power light on but motor does not run when trigger or start button is pressed

Safety: Disconnect from mains before opening the unit. Capacitors can hold charge; discharge safely if testing.

• Confirm symptom:
  • Power indicator on the Henry carpet cleaner illuminates, but there is no motor sound at all when you press the start/trigger.
• Check handle trigger switch (if fitted):
  • Open the handle housing where the solution trigger and power trigger are located.
  • Inspect the small microswitch and wiring harness for damage or loose connectors.
  • Test the trigger switch with a multimeter; replace the handle trigger switch if it does not close when pressed.
• Inspect motor capacitor:
  • Locate the motor start/run capacitor mounted near the motor.
  • Look for bulging, leaking, or cracked casing.
  • If suspect, replace with an identical value motor start capacitor specified for Henry carpet cleaners.
• Check motor relay on PCB:
  • On models with an electronic control board, identify the motor relay.
  • Look for heat damage or cracked solder joints.
  • If the relay is not clicking when you command start, the control PCB or relay may need replacement.
• Test motor windings:
  • Disconnect motor leads and measure resistance across the windings.
  • Open circuit or very low resistance indicates a failed motor; replace the vacuum motor assembly.
