Possible Causes

Blocked air intake, Clogged recovery tank filter, Obstructed hose or wand, Failing motor drawing excessive current

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug before clearing blockages or opening covers.

  • Check airflow path:
    • Remove the recovery tank and inspect the suction inlet on the Henry base for debris, carpet fibres, or pet hair.
    • Check the flexible suction hose from floor tool to machine for clogs; push a flexible rod or vacuum from the opposite end to clear.
  • Clean recovery tank filter:
    • Locate the mesh or foam filter inside or above the recovery tank.
    • Rinse under warm water until clear; allow to dry fully before refitting.
  • Inspect floor tool and wand:
    • Remove the floor extraction tool and check the nozzle and internal channels for blockages.
    • Ensure the brush bar (if fitted) is free of hair and threads.
  • Allow motor to cool:
    • If the thermal cut-out has tripped, leave the machine unplugged for 30–60 minutes to cool.
    • After cooling and clearing all blockages, test again.
  • If E3 persists:
    • The motor may be drawing too much current due to worn bearings or partial short.
    • Have a technician test current draw; replace the vacuum motor assembly if out of spec.
