Possible Causes

Sticking float in recovery tank, Dirty level sensor, Misfitted recovery tank lid, Faulty float microswitch

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug before removing tanks or accessing internal switches.

  • Inspect float assembly:
    • Remove the recovery tank from the Henry carpet cleaner.
    • Locate the float cage and plastic float ball or flap.
    • Clean away detergent residue, lint, and debris that may cause sticking.
  • Check tank seating:
    • Refit the recovery tank, ensuring it sits flat and the lid is correctly aligned with the float housing.
    • Incorrect seating can trigger the float shut-off early.
  • Clean level sensor (if electronic):
    • Some models use electronic level probes; wipe them clean with a damp cloth.
  • Test float microswitch:
    • Access the float switch area in the machine base.
    • Manually move the float and listen/feel for the microswitch click.
    • Test with a multimeter; replace the float microswitch if it remains closed when float is down.
