Possible Causes
Corrupted EEPROM on control PCB, Failed non-volatile memory IC, Incomplete firmware update (if applicable), PCB damage from surge
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before any disassembly.
- Power reset: Leave the unit unplugged for at least 10 minutes, then reconnect and try again. This can clear transient faults.
- Inspect PCB for surge damage: Look for burn marks or damaged components near the power input and microcontroller.
- Check for service reset: Some Rowenta models may support a key combination to reset configuration (consult service documentation). Perform only if documented for your model.
- Replace control PCB: If E19 persists, the EEPROM or microcontroller is likely corrupted. The standard remedy is replacement of the entire main control PCB pre-programmed by Rowenta.
