Possible Causes
Failed solution pump motor, Blocked pump inlet filter, Loose pump wiring connector, Faulty pump driver circuit on control PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the cleaner and empty the clean water/solution tank before working on the pump.
- Verify tank seating: Ensure the clean water/solution tank is fully seated and that the outlet valve at the base of the tank opens when installed. Mis-seated tanks can starve the pump.
- Check for kinks and blockages: Follow the clear solution hose from the tank to the pump and from the pump to the spray nozzles. Straighten any kinks and clear visible blockages.
- Clean the pump inlet filter: Many Rowenta carpet cleaners have a small mesh filter at the pump inlet. Remove and rinse it under warm water to clear detergent residue.
- Test the pump electrically: Access the pump assembly and disconnect its two-wire connector. Using a multimeter, check for continuity across the pump motor. An open circuit indicates a failed pump.
- Check voltage to pump: With the unit reassembled enough to operate and carefully secured, plug it in and (using proper electrical safety) measure voltage at the pump connector when the trigger is pulled. If voltage is present but the pump does not run, replace the pump. If no voltage is present, suspect the control PCB or trigger switch circuit.
