Possible Causes

Brush roll jammed with hair or debris, Worn or seized brush bearings, Failed brush drive belt (if belt-driven), Overheated brush motor

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn the unit off and unplug it before working near the brush area.

  • Inspect the brush roll: Lay the cleaner on its side and remove the bottom nozzle cover. Carefully cut away hair, threads, and fibers wrapped around the brush roll using scissors or a seam ripper.
  • Check brush bearings: Remove the brush roll from the housing. Spin the end caps by hand; they should rotate freely. If they feel rough or seized, replace the brush roll assembly.
  • Examine the drive belt (if fitted): If your Rowenta model uses a belt, check for breakage, glazing, or stretching. Replace the belt if damaged or loose.
  • Allow motor to cool: If the brush motor overheated, let the unit cool for at least 20–30 minutes. Some models have a self-resetting thermal protector on the brush motor.
  • Reassemble and test: Refit the brush roll and belt, reinstall the nozzle cover, and test. If E6 returns immediately with a free-spinning brush, the brush motor itself may be failing and should be replaced.
