Possible Causes
Worn brushbar end bearings, Debris in brushbar housing, Damaged brush drive gear, Misaligned brushbar
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the machine and lay it on its side before accessing the brushbar.
- Remove brushbar: Take off the brushbar access plate and lift out the brushbar. Note its orientation for reassembly.
- Clean thoroughly: Remove hair, threads, and debris from the bristles and end caps. Pay attention to the bearing areas at each end.
- Inspect bearings and gears: Spin the end caps by hand. If they feel rough, gritty, or seized, the bearings are worn. Check the drive gear (if visible) for missing or damaged teeth.
- Check housing: Inspect the brushbar housing for foreign objects or damage that could cause rubbing.
- Replace worn parts: If bearings or gears are damaged, replace the brushbar assembly and, if necessary, the drive gear kit with genuine VAX Platinum parts.
