Possible Causes
Clogged motor pre-filter, Blocked air intake vents, Severely restricted suction path, Failing motor drawing excessive current
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit and allow it to cool for at least 30–45 minutes before further use.
- Clean filters: Locate the motor pre-filter (often behind a grille or under the dirty water tank). Remove and tap off loose dust outdoors. Rinse under lukewarm water until clear. Do not use detergents. Allow to dry completely (24 hours) before refitting.
- Clear vents: Inspect all air intake and exhaust vents on the sides and rear of the machine. Use a soft brush or vacuum to remove lint and dust.
- Check for blockages: Remove the hose, floorhead, and any tools. Look through each section for obstructions. Use a straightened coat hanger carefully to dislodge clogs if necessary.
- Short test: After cooling and cleaning, run the machine for 5–10 minutes while monitoring for heat and the E6 warning. If it overheats quickly again, the motor may be failing internally.
- Do not bypass safety: Never attempt to bypass the thermal cut-out. If the machine continues to overheat, arrange for motor inspection and possible replacement.
