Possible Causes
Worn motor bearings, Loose motor mounts, Cracked housing causing resonance, Air leak at tank or hose seals
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the machine before inspection.
- Check for air leaks: Listen around the tank seals and hose connections while briefly running the machine. A high-pitched whistling often indicates an air leak. Reseat tanks and replace worn seals.
- Inspect for loose parts: Check that all external screws are tight and that the tanks and floorhead are firmly attached.
- Compare with and without hose: Run the machine briefly with the hose removed. If noise is significantly different, the hose or tools may be resonating.
- Motor noise: A grinding or roaring sound from the motor area usually indicates bearing wear. Continued use can lead to failure; motor replacement is recommended.
